On March 18, 2021, YouTube Shorts made their debut in the United States. The new short-form video experience, which YouTube describes as “...for producers and artists who want to shoot short, catchy videos using nothing but their mobile phones,” is still in its early stages.

According to a post on the Official YouTube Blog by Todd Sherman, the Product Lead of YouTube Shorts, the player has already topped 6.5 billion daily global views. Since the beginning of December, the number of Indian channels employing creation tools (where they are being beta tested) has more than tripled.

With YouTube's video creation tools and the add music feature , you can browse and choose music for your shorts videos . You can selects from our always growing catalog of 1000s of tracks in many languages to enhances your short video . Keep in mind , music chosen lising this feature is intended for personal , non commericial use , unless you've obtained the appropriate license .

If you upload a short video you've created somewhere else , make sure that only copyright protected material you've used is approved for your use on Youtube . If you use copyright material like song , video , photos , etc more chooses to cpyright strike on your channel. If a copyright owner sends us a valid and complete copyright takedown notice against you short video , your video may be removed , and you could receive a copyright strike .

Short videos are not part of YouTube Partner Program ellgibility but if your subscriber growing from short videos as we continue to experiment and improve the shorts experience , there may be opportunities to monetize shorts in future .

What is YouTube Shorts?

YouTube Shorts is a new 15-60 second video format for people who want to create bite-sized videos with their mobile phones.
It is based on three main areas:

Create – New tools are going to be implemented like multi-segment cameras, speed controls, timer and countdown

Get Discovered

Watch – A new watch experience is currently in the making allowing users to swipe vertically from video to video (eg similarly to TikTok)

How to Post a YouTube Shorts Video on iPhone or Android mobiles?

To start creating short videos on iOS:
Launch the YouTube app and hit the + icon (or the video camera icon on iOS)

Select Video

You have access to Shorts if you see the Create a Short Video link, and you can begin making your video.

If you don't see the link, you may still use the hashtag #Shorts in the title or description to upload up to 60 second vertical videos.
